POETRY
MY OWN REFLECTION
Valentina Kamys

When I look in the mirror,
All are a shadow, a blur,
The reflection of people,
And the bouncing of words,
Are you proud?
Are you happy?
Are these mine?
Are these yours?
Neatly dressed in their skin,
They all fit in my clothes.
My mouth moves without asking,
I don’t know any words,
I remembered them talking,
So I said what I’d been told,
When they asked my opinion,
My mind shut down and turned,
I said something you told me,
I said nothing at all.
If we all act the same,
Then who is the real me?
Are my attributes fake?
Are my thoughts even real?
When I’m bored I wear faces,
I pretend I’m involved,
In the end, no one noticed,
All perceptions absolved.
