The Weeping Tree

There once was a tree, a weeping tree,

Who lived in a lonely swamp.

“Oh boy! To be as tall as a pine tree!”

the tree yelled.

“What are you yapping about?”

said a nearby lily.

“Take a look at me, I mean, you probably can't, I'm so short!”

He replied.

“Ha!, don’t get your hopes up, I doubt you’ll ever get that tall!”

The lily laughed.

The tree softly spoke,

“If only I wasn’t so slumped.”

And so the tree was left in tears, weeping back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

“What was I made for?”

He said in misery.

-The next day, a clumsy spider crawled by.

“Good heavens!, where have I ended?”

the spider cried.

“Welcome to my swamp friend! Feel free to climb my log

and nest in my leaves.” the tree empathized .

“Ha! What kind of sick joke is that?”

The spider rudely interrupted.

“Well, I just wanted you to feel at home.”

He replied.

“I would never waste my silky webs on such wretched leaves!”

The spider laughed as he left.

“I'm sorry”

The tree sighed.

And the tree was once again left in tears, weeping back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

“What was I made for?”

He said in misery.

The next day, a croc stomped by.

“Hey you!, you oughta help me!”

The croc yelled.

“Please, I beg of you!”

he followed.

“What's wrong?”

The tree asked.

“A beast is looking for me!”

“A beast?!”

He asked.

“The devil himself! He was walking on two legs, he had a mighty axe and a branch that could breathe fire! You must hide me!”

He answered.

“Where could I possibly hide you?!”

The tree yelled in confusion.

“Darn! You really are useless!”

The croc ran.

And so the tree was left in tears, weeping back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

“What was I made for?”

He said in misery.

The next day, a man walked by.

The man approached the tree, swinging his ax around.

“Good morning mister, what can I help you with?”

The tree greeted.

“Yuu haven’t seen a crocodile walking around here haven’t ya”

The man said with an accent.

“Um, I do know of one”

The tree trembled.

“Well then? Where is he at?”

Asked the man.

“He went over there”

Said the tree as he pointed deeper into the woods.

“Great, thanks”.

“But hold on!”

Interrupted the tree.

“Why do you wish to harm him? I mean, he really didn’t do anything to you did he?”

The tree asked.

“Well... no... but… don't try to make me soft you stupid tree!”

He said.

“I need to get him, to prove to my dad that I am a real man!”

The man yelled.

“Huh, you both really aren’t that different, always looking for daddies approval”

The tree chuckled.

“Don't mock me you-! wait , really?”

The man stuttered.

“I can’t believe you came out all the way over here just for that”

The tree judged.

“I didn’t! I am also looking for some fine wood”

The man corrected.

“I’d be happy to give you some”

The tree offered.

“Ha! I don’t want your weak wood, are you kidding?”

The man said as he left.

And so the tree was left in tears again, weeping back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

 “What was I made for?”

He said in misery.

-That night a furious storm hit the lonely swamp.

The weeping tree, unfaced by the storm, says

“I hope all my friends are okay”.

“Do you mind if I rest under your leaves?”

Asked the lily cuddling up to the tree.

“Of course I don’t!”

Replied the tree.

“Good heavens! Mind if I join too?”

Said the soaking wet spider.

“Come on in!”

He replied.

“Hey buddy, good to see ya. Can I shelter in your shade mr tree? Sorry for earlier”

The man said panting.

“ Aah! Can I wait for the rain to stop, im exhausted”

Said the tired croc.

“You are all welcome!”

Said the tree.

And so they all cuddled up with the weeping tree.

The weeping tree warmly held them close , and rocked them back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

The end.
