POETRY
MIDNIGHT
Emilio Tellez Rodriguez

When the night sky shines over your head,
And the fall leaves fly across the wind,
That beautiful smile when you lay in bed,
Is enough to find that peace of mind.
Walking on a street late in October,
Driving fast through the highway,
Appearing indifferent and mediocre,
In the very ceasing of the alleyway.
Right after I’m alone in the unknown,
And remember the time when I was with you,
Those everlasting hours when we were on the phone,
And those little sweet moments when we were at the zoo.
I wish I could live forever,
To drown in your eyes all day,
You will always be my treasure,
Even when it’s not a sunny day.
