I could have made us work, but I just didn’t trust at all
Turned a conversation into a battle with blood
Leaks in my heart and you watched it flood
What if I told you, you are the first one I loved?
Long over-analyzed written words in a lock
Squandered all my tears in the waiting for you
Every single night glancing straight at the clock
I should have known that I wasn't enough
Almost lover, are you there? This isn’t fair
What 's your cover? I can’t find you anywhere
Is there another? Cause I’m not hard to replace
I just wish you were easier to erase
You can’t deny there was a fire when alone
You wouldn’t know how I fought my mind on this
When I felt the ignominy I should’ve gone home
But my core was still sore, so that's what it gets
I still reflect on how softly you froze me out
And when I light a candle it doesn't melt me in
And after all, I just don’t really know what I did
Nighttime is the hardest’ cause I’m not quite through
And I swear every single poem talks about you
What a dreadful link for a romance debut
And I swear every single poem talks about you
I miss that with you everything was true
‘Cause I swear every single poem talks about you
And if I could change it, believe me I would
Believe I would
